San Diego-based wireless chipmaker, Qualcomm, has signed a new deal with Nortel Networks, expanding the product and patent scope of a previous cross-licensing agreement between the two companies.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Qualcomm will grant Nortel a royalty-bearing license to its technology, for the manufacture and sale of CDMA and GSM wireless infrastructure products.

Nortel, meanwhile, is allowing Qualcomm to make and sell patented CDMA components for use in consumer devices and infrastructure products.
