Sprint Nextel announced at CTIA Wireless yesterday that it is about to launch the UpStage, an innovative new music phone from Samsung Electronics.

The candybar-style UpStage will come equipped with a standard phone keypad on one side and dedicated music controls on the other. It features a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, microSD memory card slot, stereo Bluetooth, and EV-DO mobile data capability.

“Samsung is proud to introduce this groundbreaking union of voice, form and music to the Sprint Power Vision phone lineup,” commented Peter Skarzynski, a senior VP at Samsung. “UpStage is packed with high-profile music access, messaging and multitasking capabilities, in an ultra-slim, unique design with a very reasonable price point.”

The UpStage is set to hit the U.S. consumer market sometime next month, at a starting price of $150.
