AT&T Launches Business Telecom Subsidiary in India

U.S. telecom giant, AT&T Inc., has launched business operations in India for the first time, via its newest subsidiary, AT&T Global Network Services India, which is owned in joint with Mahindra Telecommunications Investment Private Ltd.
“India is a high-priority market for just about every global MNC (multinational corporation), and the increasingly competitive telecom landscape will be a major factor in helping to attract further MNC investment and expansion into India,†commented V. S. Gopi Gopinath, the vice president of AT&T’s Asia Pacific division.
“AT&T is strongly positioned in India to directly meet their telecommunication needs,†Gopinath added.
The country’s Communications and IT Minister, Dayanidhi Maran, agreed that AT&T’s offerings would increase the competitiveness of India’s technology sector, and enrich the lives of IT users.
“For its part, the Central Government, through its policies, will ensure that India continues to be an investor friendly destination for global telecommunications companies,†Maran assured.
