Cell Phone Users Willing to Accept Ads for Free Content

A recent study by TNS Media and Entertainment suggests that cellular internet users are becoming more accepting of mobile advertisements, as a way to subsidize premium content and services.
The survey, which involved 6,000 customers from the U.S., Britain, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy, found that 32% of mobile phone users regularly surf the web on their handsets and 34% of these would be willing to watch ads in exchange for free mobile content.
TSN found that mobile web access was particularly popular within certain content verticals, including weather, sports, local news, and stock quotes. Many PC internet users who look up this information online (and often view advertising while doing so) also make use the corresponding mobile content services.
