Google is making good on its promise to expand into TV advertising, signing a multi-year ad distribution deal with satellite television provider, EchoStar Communications Corp.

EchoStar will make a “significant amount of ad inventory” available to the web giant, which will then sell the commercial spots using an automated system.

After experiencing unprecedented success in the pay-per-click online advertising market, Google has repeatedly stated plans to extend its unique brand of highly targeted, cost-effective advertising into offline markets like print, radio, and television.

The television advertising system developed by Google will automate the process of buying and selling ads on EchoStar’s 125 satellite channels throughout America. The service is currently being tested by EchoStar, and should be commercially available sometime next month.
