Motorola Buys Stake in Vocera Communications

Motorola’s venture capital division, Motorola Ventures, has purchased a stake in Vocera Communications, a Cupertino, California-based wireless technology firm that develops hands-free wearable communications badges.

The Vocera Communications Badge is designed for mobile workers, in particular hospital employees, who use the small voice-operated device in instantly communicate with colleagues within Wi-Fi equipped buildings.

Financial terms of Motorola’s investment in the company were not made public.
