Canadian cable giant, Rogers Communications added a new component to its diversified media and communications bundle this week, by offering commercial-free satellite radio content in conjunction with its wireless, cable, and broadband internet services.

This is being made possible by an partnership between Rogers and the country’s second largest satellite radio provider, XM Canada. Rogers customers will be able to sign up for up to 25 channels of commercial-free music programming, as well as a variety of comedy, entertainment, sports, and talk radio content.

“Rogers provides its customers new programming options through whatever medium they want to experience - be it phone, television, or internet,” explained Phil Lind, the executive vice chairman of Rogers Communications. “In a short period of time, XM has become a highly recognizable brand and one that our customers are interested in.”

“This is an incredible opportunity to expand the reach of satellite radio,” added XM Canada’s chairman and CEO, John Bitove, in a news release. “With Rogers products available throughout Canada, we will now reach more Canadians than ever before, and this agreement provides us new avenues for awareness and revenue growth.”
