U.S. telecom giant, Verizon Communications, is adding three new channels to its high-definition FiOS TV lineup.

By the end of this week, Home & Garden Television, the Food Network, and the Lifetime Movie Network will be available in HDTV format for Verizon’s fiber optic television subscribers. This brings the number of high-definition channels available in most FiOS markets to 27, depending on the number of local HDTV broadcasters.

Existing FiOS subscribers with an HD-capable TV and set-top box will receive the three new channels at no additional cost.

“FiOS TV is growing in popularity just as our high definition networks are, making this agreement a winning partnership for viewers,” commented John Baird, the executive VP of affiliate sales and marketing for Scripps Networks, which owns Home & Garden TV and the Food Network.
