Regional wireless carrier, Alltel, has begun offering “Day Pass†access to mobile data services, in an effort to lure customers into buying a monthly data package.
For $1.49, subscribers are given full access to all of Alltel’s Axcess wireless web services, including news, sports, weather, and mobile browsing, for a period of 24 hours.
“Alltel continues to offer services that allow customers to easily integrate mobile content into their daily lives,†commented Alltel’s senior vice president of product management, Wade McGill. “The introduction of the Day Pass option is another example of Alltel’s commitment to give our customers the ability to control and customize their wireless experience.â€
The Day Pass service is powered by Motricity’s content delivery platform, Fuel, which Alltel also uses to provide wallpapers, ringtones, and mobile software applications to its existing wireless data subscribers.
