Nokia is debuting one of its slimmest mobile handsets, the Nokia 6300, in North America for the first time, through a deal with Fido in Canada.
The 6300 weighs just 91 grams and comes in a 13.1mm-thin candy-bar design with rounded edges, recessed buttons, and stainless steel casing. It features a 2-megapixel digital camera, built-in MP3 player, FM radio, Bluetooth, and 512MB of memory, expandable to 2GB via a microSD card slot.
Fido is offering the phone throughout Canada at a cost of just $100, on a three-year contract.
“Based on the design of the Nokia 6300 and the materials used, a handset like this would typically cost several hundred dollars,†noted Paul Chapple, the General Manager of Nokia Canada. “It is amazing that Fido’s customers have exclusive North American access to the Nokia 6300 at such a low price.â€
Fido, formerly known as Microcell Telecommunications, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canada’s leading GSM cell phone carrier, Rogers Wireless.
