Transatlantic telecom equipment vendor, Alcatel-Lucent, has signed a three-year network support and maintenance contract with Vivo, a Brazilian mobile phone carrier owned in joint by Portugal Telecom and Spain’s Telefonica.

Alcatel-Lucent will support and maintain 2,300 of the carrier’s cell sites.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, except to say that it is five times bigger than a previous contract signed by Vivo and Alcatel-Lucent last year.
