Apple Addresses iPhone Concerns with Stronger Battery, Better Screen

Apple Inc. announced yesterday that it had addressed two major flaws in its forthcoming iPhone device, ahead of the music-enabled handset’s June 29 launch date.
The iPhone will come with a more powerful battery than initially anticipated, offering eight hours of talk time rather than five. In terms of other functionality, the new battery will be capable of supporting six hours of mobile web browsing, seven hours of video playback, or 24 hours of continuous music.
Apple also announced that the iPhone’s screen will be made of optical-quality glass, rather than plastic, making it more durable and scratch-resistant.
These upgrades address two of the iPhone’s three most concerning flaws. The much hyped device still won’t work with AT&T’s high-speed 3G broadband network, however, forcing iPhone users to revert to the carrier’s older and slower EDGE data network.
