Thousands of American gadget enthusiasts lined up outside Apple and AT&T Wireless retail stores across the country today, in advance of the much-anticipated Apple iPhone’s 6:00pm launch time.
The hot new music- and data-capable cell phone has been the focus of massive media hype in recent weeks, and has inspired the faith of customers from coast to coast.
“The phones out there are just garbage. I’ve gone through several phones, even the expensive ones. This is different,” commented Albert Livingstone, an eager 62-year-old buyer in Chicago.
It’s no surprise that the iPhone drew impressive crowds on its first day of availability, and is already being reviewed left right and center. It is the attitudes and opinions of “early adopters” — that is ordinary consumers who buy the iPhone now — however, which will set the tone for success or disappointment in the weeks and months to come.
