Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone device will be capable of wirelessly stream online videos from YouTube, the hardware company revealed yesterday.

YouTube, a popular Google-owned video sharing website, recently began encoding its videos in a new format that improves quality and saves battery life when used with mobile devices. The iPhone will be the first device to take advantage of this development.

YouTube videos will also be available on Apple’s popular set-top box product, Apple TV, in the near future, thanks to ongoing cooperation between the two companies.
