Motorola Challenges Samsung with RAZR2 Handset
6:50 am on June 30, 2007 | Category: Mobile Devices, Cell Phones
Motorola has released its latest ultra-slim cell phone, the RAZR2, in South Korea, ahead of the handset’s global launch in July.
“We’re releasing our new phone in the Korean market first in recognition of tech-savvy and fashion-aware Korean customers,” the company said in a statement.
The RAZR2 is the latest attempt to revive Motorola’s ailing handset business. It boasts a slimmer body, larger screen, and better call quality than its predecessor.
Motorola is currently the world’s second largest handset maker, but is on the verge of falling behind Korean rival, Samsung Electronics, if it fails to find a successor to the immensely popular RAZR phone, which took the world by storm in 2005. Motorola is hoping to gain ground in Samsung’s home market, where 55% of wireless customers use Samsung phones.
