Telefonica to Invest Heavily in Latin American DSL Market

Spanish telecom incumbent, Telefonica SA, is planning to invest over €10 billion in Latin American markets over the next two and a half years, according the company’s chairman, Cesar Alierta.
Broadband usage in Latin America has grown at an annual rate of 85% for the past several years, driven primarily by the implementation of ADSL technology.
Telefonica is a “leading driver” in the Latin American ADSL, and has signed up over 4 million clients in the region, according to the company’s recent Digiworld Latin America report.
