Apple Inc. announced this week that it plans to make user-generated online videos from the popular site, YouTube, available on traditional televisions via its Apple TV set-top box product.

Users of the slim, book-sized device will be able to wirelessly stream videos directly from the internet, and log into YouTube accounts using the TV.

“This is the first time users can easily browse, find and watch YouTube videos right from their living room couch, and it’s really, really fun,” comments Apple CEO, Steve Jobs. “YouTube is a worldwide sensation, and Apple TV is bringing it directly from the Internet onto the widescreen TV.”

The YouTube feature will be made available in mid-June, as a free software plug in for existing Apple TV devices.
