Apple Inc. confirmed this week that it would launch its popular iPhone device in some European markets by the end of this year, but said that the majority of Europeans, and all of Asia, would need to wait until 2008 for the much-anticipated music phone.

“We plan to go into a few major countries in Europe next quarter, to move across other countries in Europe in 2008 and enter Asia in 2008 as well,” explained Apple COO, Tim Cook in a conference call with investors.

Most analysts believe that France, Germany, and the UK will be the only European markets to get the new device this year.

This will come as a disappointment to many customers in small European countries, who had hoped to get the iPhone in time for Christmas.
