German communications and engineering conglomerate, Siemens AG, says that it is on track to create 10,000 new jobs this fiscal year, which ends next month.

The company has already added 8,200 jobs this business years, 7,900 of which are based outside of Germany. This figure does not include telecom equipment joint venture, Nokia Siemens Networks, or corporate communications unit, Siemens Enterprise Communications, which are cutting jobs in the name of consolidation.

“Business is taking off in most of our divisions,” said a Siemens spokesman. “Order intake is still high, and at some units, we are already producing at the limit of our capacity.”

Siemens now employs a total of 445,000 staff worldwide. Approximately 145,000 of these jobs are located in Germany, which accounts for just under 20% of the group’s sales.
