Brazilian Cell Phone Market Grew 2.2% in August

The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Brazil grew to 110.9 million in August, up 2.2% from the end of July, according to data from telecom regulator, Anatel.

Mobile phone sales were given a major boost by Fathers Day, which Brazillans celebrate on the second Sunday in August. Approximately 2.2 million phones were sold in the days leading up to August 12.
