Senior citizens spend more time using the internet than any other age demographic in the UK, according to a report by Britian’s telecom regulator, Ofcom.

The average internet user aged 65 and up spent 42 hours online in April 2007. The number of elderly web users remains relatively low, however, with just 16% of seniors going online regularly.

Ofcom’s study also revealed that the number of female internet users is gradually increasing, and now forms 45% of Britain’s entire internet population. Women actually outnumbered men in the 24 to 34 demographic, accounting for 55% of the user base.
