NTT DoCoMo Announces Flat-Rate Mobile Data Pricing
5:00 am on September 14, 2007 | Category: Telecom Services, Internet, WirelessJapan’s top cell phone carrier, NTT DoCoMo Inc., announced yesterday that it would introduce a flat-rate pricing scheme for its wireless data services, in a bid to win new mobile internet subscribers amid stiff competition from rival carriers.
The new flat-rate plan is set to take effect on October 22, and will allow users to surf the web at speeds of up to 3.6-Mbps, at a maximum cost of ¥11,340 per month, including tax. NTT DoCoMo will also offer maximum pricing of ¥4,725 including tax, on its lower-bandwidth 64-Kbps mobile data network.
The wireless giant would not publicly speculate on what impact the new pricing scheme would have on future revenue.
