Microsoft’s recently launched Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is a pricey but well-designed and feature-rich accessory for the business traveler, according to internet technology reviewers.

Powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery, the Memory Mouse conveniently charges when latched magnetically to an included USB dongle, which doubles as a 1GB flash memory drive. The mouse can also connect wirelessly to any Bluetooth-enabled notebook computer.

“With the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000, Microsoft attempts to cram in everything but the proverbial kitchen sink, providing 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, a transceiver with 1GB of flash memory, and even a rechargeable battery,” said CNET editor, Dan Ackerman, in a review last month. “It’s an ambitious package that probably has more than you need, but it could come in handy in a crunch.”

All in all, the combination of Bluetooth, on-board memory, and a rechargeable battery will surely appeal to business travelers. Most consumers, however, will likely balk at the device’s $99 price tag.
