Telefonica Selects Yahoo oneSearch as Primary Mobile Search Engine

Spanish telecom incumbent, Telefonica, has agreed to add Yahoo’s oneSearch platform as the primary search engine for its mobile internet portals in Europe and Latin America.
The deal covers 15 countries and 100 million subscribers, including O2 customers in the UK and Ireland.
The oneSearch service is specifically designed for mobile phones, delivering search results directly on the first screen, and eliminating the need to navigate through a tree of links to reach websites. It also comes with convenient access to news, stock quotes, and local weather forecasts, as well as Flickr photos and online images.
In addition to this, Yahoo’s free web mail service will be integrated with Telefonica’s Mail Express application in Spain and Latin America, allowing Yahoo! Mail users to automatically receive new messages on their phones as MMS messages.
