Regional U.S. wireless carrier, Alltel, has unveiled a free Parental Controls application for parents who are concerned about their children accessing adult content on mobile devices.
The Parental Controls software can be quickly and easily installed on a child’s cell phone, effectively blocking access to “questionable” mobile websites involving pornography, violence, gambling, weapons, or other inappropriate material. The service uses RuleSpace’s content filtering database, which is updated daily for the highest possible accuracy.
Parental Controls will be be made available at no extra cost to Alltel wireless data subscribers, beginning in February 2008.
