Swiss Broadband Rates Plummet Almost 30%

The cost of residential broadband service in Western Europe decreased by 2.8% in the first three quarters of 2007, according to Telecompaper’s recent Western European Broadband Pricing report, with Switzerland and Belgium noting the biggest declines.

Swiss customers saw their average monthly broadband bill plummet 29.7% to 54.60 CHF (€35.90) between December 31, 2006 and September 30, 2007.

Ireland, on the the other hand, experienced a 23.5% increase in broadband rates over the same period, illustrating the vast differences between market trends within Europe.

The average cost of a broadband plan in all of Western Europe stood at €32.88 at the end of last month.
