Telecom equipment giant, Alcatel-Lucent, announced earlier this week that Australian telecom giant, Telstra, planned to integrate its interactive wireless television solution with the FOXTEL Mobile TV service.

FOXTEL, a joint venture between Telstra and News Corp., was launched late last year to coincide with the availability of Telstra’s NextG wireless data and entertainment network. It currently offers 33 channels of mobile television content.

The implementation of Alcatel-Lucent’s technology will make it possible for FOXTEL customers to remotely record TV programming onto a home DVR device, via an Electronic Program Guide on their handsets.
