Turkish Cell Phone Shipments Up 45% in Third Quarter

A total of 8.3 million mobile phones were sold in Turkey in the third quarter of this year, representing a 44.5% increase over the same period last year, according to data from market researcher, GfK Group.

In terms of revenue, the Turkish handset market grew 25% to €1.35 billion during the summer quarter.

Slider phones, which showed growth of 330% over last year, contributed significantly to the market’s growth, and now account for 25% of handsets shipped in the country.

GfK also reports that more than half (52%) of the phones sold in Turkey now contain Bluetooth and FM radio features.
