American telecommunications companies, including landline and wireless providers, will spend $56 billion this year, and $393 billion over the next five years to “engineer, furnish, and install” products and services, according to a recent study by Amadee & Company.
The Amadee report, entitled “Telecom Engineer, Furnish and Install – A Market and Competitive Analysis: 2007 - 2012,” analyzes the spending of major telecom carriers, and forecasts trends for the next five years.
AT&T and Verizon are the leading purchasers of EF&I products and services, according to Amadee, while Emerson Electric and Alcatel-Lucent are the leading Original Equipment Manufacturers.
Over the next five years, EF&I spending will be driven largely by the ongoing conversion of wireless systems from analog to digital, 3G, and beyond, as well as the need for more wireline bandwidth as demand increases for advanced broadband services.
