FTTH Represents Growing Portion of Japanese Broadband Market

The total number of broadband subscriptions in the Japanese market grew from 27.20 million to 27.76 million in the third quarter, according to new figures from the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).

10.52 million Japanese households used Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks at the end of September, an increase of 818,221 since the end of June. The number of DSL subscriptions, meanwhile, fell by 310,955 during the quarter to 13.48 million, while the cable broadband customer base grew by 57,304 to 3.75 million.
