U.S. telecom giant, Verizon Communications, won yet another cable television franchise in Massachusetts earlier this week, this time covering 1,800 households in the small community of Rowley.

The Rowley Board of Selectmen approved Verizon’s request for a cable franchise on Monday, allowing it to proceed with plans to take on incumbent cable operator, Comcast, in the town.

Verizon’s FiOS TV service is now available to more than 500,000 households in 60 Massachusetts markets, and also in numerous other U.S. states, including New York, New Jersey, California, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, and Virginia.
