Verizon Regulatory Approval to Launch FiOS TV in Rhode Island

Telecom giant, Verizon Communications, has won regulatory approval to offer its FiOS pay-TV service in parts of Rhode Island, beginning as soon as January 6.
The new video franchisees, granted by the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, will allow Verizon to roll-out FiOS TV in Charlestown, Cranston, Foster, Hopkinton, Johnson, Narragansett, North Providence, Providence, Richmond, Scituate, South Kingstown, and Westerly, Rhode Island.
About 29% of households in these communities will gain access to FiOS TV in the near future, with installations beginning in “just a few weeks.†Once this goal is met, Verizon promises “continued expansion in the coming year.â€
