Shaw Communications Posts 38% Increase in Quarterly Profits

Canada’s second biggest cable company, Shaw Communications, has profits of C$112.2 million ($0.26/share) for the fiscal quarter ending on November 30, up 38.3% from the same three-month period a year earlier.
Shaw’s revenue increased 10.9% to C$743.8 million, thanks to growth in the company’s digital cable, broadband, and VoIP businesses.
Shaw added 8,138 basic cable customers and 39,496 digital cable subscribers in the quarter, bringing its totals to 2.23 million and 802,636, respectively. Its cable broadband customer base, meanwhile, grew by 34,719 to 1.48 million, while digital phone subscriptions were up 50,339 to 435,696.
