Transatlantic telecom equipment vendor, Alcatel-Lucent, announced yesterday that it had won a contract to provide technology for the expansion of AT&T’s 3G wireless network.

The improved and expanded network will help AT&T, America’s leading cell phone carrier, offer such next-generation services as wireless multimedia and high-speed web access in more markets.

AT&T’s new agreement with Alcatel-Lucent builds on a previous contract signed by the two companies in November 2004.
