As analysts expected, AT&T Mobility will match Verizon’s new unlimited wireless calling plan, launching its own flat-rate nationwide option.

Beginning tomorrow, AT&T mobile phone users will be able to call anywhere in the United States at any time of day for a fixed rate of $99.99 per month. The carrier will further sweeten the deal by waiving domestic roaming and long distance charges.

AT&T is also launching a number of unlimited data and messaging plans, in response to highly competitive conditions in the U.S. wireless market. In a notable caveat, however, none of the new offers apply to smartphones, PDAs, or the Apple iPhone.

Another major carrier, T-Mobile USA, meanwhile, is also following Verizon onto the unlimited wireless bandwagon, announcing a new package that includes unlimited voice calls and text messages for $99.99 per month, beginning today (Feb. 21).
