Cox Communications added more than one million Revenue Generating Units (i.e. individual subscriptions) in 2007, marking the seventh consecutive year that it has repeated this accomplishment.

The cable giant stated last week that 62% of its customers now subscribe to two-product bundles, and 30% are triple-play.

Cox now counts a total of 5.96 million residential subscribers, including 3.1 million digital cable users, 3.7 million high-speed internet customers, and 2.38 million digital telephone (VoIP) subscribers. The company’s VoIP business grew 17.7% in 2007 alone.

“The marketplace has never been more competitive, with customers demanding more from us as their needs become more complex,” commented the president of Cox Communications, Pat Esser. “Despite fierce competition from phone and satellite companies, we saw less than 0.4% reduction in basic video subscriptions, and digital penetration continues to grow (now 58% of basic) as customers are increasingly upgrading to enjoy high definition, On DEMAND and DVR services.”
