Taiwanese mobile device maker, HTC, recently produced an optimistic forecast for the global smartphone market, noting that sales have not yet been affected by the ongoing economic slowdown, and predicting that converged devices will become a mass market phenomenon this year.
HTC expects its own year-over-year profits to increase by 20% to 30% over the course of 2008, as consumers increasingly adopt smartphones and converged mobile devices.
In 2007, HTC shipped a total of 11.364 million mobile devices, up from 9.918 million in 2006. The American market accounted for 42.0% of its revenues, followed Europe with 39.6%, and the rest of the world with 18.3%.
