Nortel Networks and Microsoft have unveiled a number of new jointly developed products, the latest fruits of their ongoing partnership in the unified communications industry.

Nortel Converged Office will integrate Nortel’s Communication Server 1000 IP-PBX system with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, which will also undergo integration with the Nortel UC Integrated Branch, so as to deploy WAN routing, Ethernet switching, VoIP, and security in remote sites.

Cross-platform capabilities will also be available in the Nortel and Microsoft Carrier Hosted UC Solution for hosting unified communications, which provides small and medium-sized enterprise customers with VoIP, video conferencing, instant messaging, and click-to-call services through Microsoft Office Communicator 2007.

In addition to this, Nortel Multimedia Conferencing v. 5.0 is now available for Microsoft’s Communications Server 2007 software.

Nortel sees the partnership with Microsoft as a way to offer its unified communications infrastructure products to business large and small, together with a trusted and well-understood front-end software interface.
