AT&T is bringing its U-verse VoIP service to Austin, Texas and San Diego, California, paving the way for triple-play (voice/data/video) bundles in the cities.

U-verse Voice customers get unlimited local and long distance calling within the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories for a flat rate of $40/month. Lite users can order U-verse Voice 1000, which offers 1,000 minutes of anytime calling. Additional phone lines within the same household can be added for an extra $20/month.

The U-verse Voice offering was first launched this January in Detroit, Michigan, and subsequently extended to Kansas City, as well as parts of Connecticut.

In Austin and San Diego, the service will feature an element of fixed-mobile convergence, allowing those customers with AT&T cell phones to check their wireless voicemail from their home phone line.
