American internet users viewed 10.1 billion online videos in the month of February, up 66% from February 2007, with Google’s YouTube continuing to lead the internet video market, according to a recent report by ComScore.

135 million U.S. internet users spent an average of 204 minutes each viewing videos over the course of February, down slightly from 139 million users averaging 206 minutes in January.

Google continued to capture the lion’s share of video traffic (3.6 billion views, with YouTube.com accounting for about 96% of these), followed by Fox Interactive Media (586 million views, 539 million of which were served on MySpace.com).

Yahoo and Microsoft’s online video sites were more or less tied for third place, accounting for 293 million video views each. Other significant players were Viacom Digital (218 million), Time Warner (132.7 million), Disney Online (130.6 million), AOL (114.9 million), ABC.com (98.3 million), and Comcast (92.8 million).

These statistics, compiled by ComScore’s Video Metrix division, include both streaming and progressive-download videos.
