Verizon Wireless to Launch Touchscreen ‘BlackBerry Thunder’ in Q3: WSJ
6:15 am on May 21, 2008 | Category: Mobile Devices, Wireless, PDAs, MultimediaResearch In Motion, the acclaimed manufacturer of mobile email devices, is on the verge of introducing a touchscreen version of its popular BlackBerry smartphone, according to a recent Wall Street Journal report, citing “people familiar with the matter.”
The forthcoming “BlackBerry Thunder” device will be RIM’s strongest attempt so far to capitalize on the growing multimedia smartphone market, popularized by the Apple iPhone in recent months.
The Thunder device will be launched in the United States by Verizon Wireless sometime in the third quarter, according to the WSJ report. It is expected to cost around $400, on a two-year contract.
