America’s leading telecom provider, AT&T Inc., will begin offering its U-verse TV service in eastern Wisconsin today, launching fiber-optic television alternative in the cities of Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, and Fond du lac.

AT&T is offering either a free month of service or a $50 cash-back gift card to all new U-verse customers in the region, where it is attempting to challenge incumbent cable operator, Time Warner Cable. The telecom giant did not disclose how many households would initially be able to receive the U-verse service.

AT&T’s VoIP telephone service, U-verse Voice, however, will not be immediately available in the area.
