American broadcasting giant, CBS, is planning to upgrade the online video player found on its website (cbs.com), as well as the CBS Audience Network, adding new features and options for viewers.
The new player will allow users to embed CBS video clips on outside websites, and view full-screen online videos in true high-definition quality. It will also come with a new and improved user interface.
“As the first premium content network to take an open approach to syndication, we are committed to providing our users with the best online viewing experience possible,” commented Anthony Soohoo, senior VP and general manager of entertainment at CBS Interactive. “Our new video-player platform takes advantage of the new social medium online by combining the most advanced video technology with our expertise in premium content programming to deliver new ways to discover and enjoy entertainment online.”
The planned changes will be phased in gradually over the next few months, according to a company spokesperson.
