Verizon to Offer Wireless Discounts to DSL and FiOS Customers

America’s second-largest telecom operator, Verizon Communications, is planning to introduce new double- and triple-play discounts, allowing customers to bundle cell phone service with broadband and/or FiOS TV service, without a landline subscription.

Verizon, whose wireless bundles have traditionally been available only to existing landline customers, says it’s changing its pricing model to cater to the one in seven U.S. households who use mobile telephone service only.

“We remain very bullish on the traditional copper-based phone service, but we also recognize that there’s a growing segment of society that wants to have wireless as its principal home service,” explained Verizon spokesman, Bill Kula.

The company plans to grant discounts of $8 to $12 per month for customers that use Verizon Wireless cell phones, alongside Verizon DSL or FiOS broadband, according to an Associated Press report. An FiOS TV subscription adds an additional $8 in savings.
