tens of thousands... ooooo... wwooowww. That's literally nothing, we're talking across Canada here... maybe if they offered reasonable plans and offered a way for current subscribers a way to purchase the phone REASONABLY... and maybe if their system could handle "tens of thousands of orders"... then maybe they'd be able to say "hundreds of thousands" and be able to add that customers were happy. I haven't talk to or heard of a single person that is actually happy with Rogers / Fido. Sure they are happy to finally have an iPhone, but they would all love to move to reliable, customer focused provider.

Given the marketing and brand clout of Telus and Bell not to mention expected aggressive pricing, The Instinct and new HTC Touch Diamond will certainly pull some smartphone share. The innovation through the App store and the Apple brand factor should help keep the iPhone well ahead. The primary downside being Rogers greed. Of greater challenge to the iPhone is probably going to be the upcoming Blackberrys. RIM has a great installed base of fans.

More thoughts on the App Store effect on my blog:

Rogers iPhone sales suck. Look,, the USA is only 10 times the Canadian population and they have had the iPhone for a year already.
USA 400,000 in 3 days
CDN 10,000 in 3 days

10 times the population
40 times more sales of iPhones.

UK 250,000
2 times the population
25 times more sales of iPhones
Rogers is loosing money,, plans still overpriced and market penetration is way off potential,,, their stock should TANK.
