Verizon Wireless introduced a new service for mobile music users this week, offering unlimited Rhapsody music downloads at a fixed price of $15 per month.

The new service will compete with existing mobile music options available on Verizon’s V CAST network, including MP3 downloads from Apple iTunes and Napster.

In order to gain a competitive edge, Rhapsody is eliminating copy protection from all tracks purchased at its online music store. This will allow them to be played on a variety of devices, including Personal Computers, iPods, and MP3 players.

Rhapsody is a joint venture between RealNetworks and Viacom’s MTV Networks.
