AT&T has began competing with cable giant, Comcast, in the Midwestern town of South Bend, Indiana and three surrounding communities, rolling out its triple-play U-verse service in the area.

U-verse TV, broadband, and digital phone services are now available in select neighbourhoods of Granger, Mishawaka, Roseland, and South Bend, with service availability set to expand on an ongoing basis.

“With the launch of AT&T U-verse TV, South Bend-area customers are finally getting a better choice to break free from cable,” commented Bob Nixon, AT&T’s general manager for Indiana and Michigan. “And we’re taking it even further by making your services work together and offering cool features you can’t get anywhere else.”

AT&T is currently offering upwards of 45 high-definition TV channels in the South Bend area.

The roll out of U-verse TV in Indiana is made possible by statewide cable franchise legislation, passed by state legislators in 2006.
