Verizon Communications has added a 24-hour fishing channel to its FiOS TV service in the New York area, including the five boroughs of New York City where Verizon’s TV service recently became available for the first time.

The three-year-old channel, entitled ‘WFN: World Fishing Network,’ is operated by Insight Sports, a Canadian company, and is currently available to some 20 million households across North America.

By adding the high-definition version of WFN to its FiOS content lineup, Verizon seeks to offer “compelling, special interest programming that captures customers’ passions,” according to the vice president of FiOS TV content and programming, Terry Denson.

FiOS TV is currently available to approximately 7 million households in 13 states.
