Cupertino, California-based hardware giant, Apple Inc., has released a software update for its popular iPhone device, in an attempt to fix bugs, improve battery life, and make it easier for users to synchronize their iPhone devices with a computer.

The new upgrade “improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display,” according to Apple, although it is not clear whether the quality of mobile voice and broadband connections was actually increased. It will also improve email and messaging reliability and reduce software crashes, the company said.

Feedback on web forums has been generally positive, with users saying that their iPhone devices were performing faster when handling key tasks. This contrasts with early response to a similar Apple upgrade last month, which failed to improve the iPhone’s connection to high-speed data networks, but drew mostly negative feedback.
