America’s leading cable operator, Comcast, has teamed up with Thumbplay to add a library of mobile entertainment downloads to the Comcast.net web portal.
Thumbplay’s database includes more than 100,000 pieces of licensed content, including ringtones, music, games, and video downloads. It offers a ‘locker’ feature, allowing customers to automatically back up and store purchased items, as well as a community feature, making it possible to share downloads among friends on Facebook.
Comcast.net users can download Thumbplay content onto their mobile phones on an a la carte basis, or using paid subscription-based credits.
In addition to the Thumbplay downloads, the ‘Comcast.net Mobile’ service will offer on-the-go Comcast email access, internet search capability, and constantly updated news, local weather, and TV and movie listings.
Comcast.net is the primary internet portal for Comcast’s 14.4 million high-speed internet customers and currently receives some 3.7 billion page views per month.
